Barry Hymer

Barry Hymer is an educational psychologist, author and Emeritus Professor of Psychology in Education at the University of Cumbria. His biography recounts that he has been a primary and secondary teacher, local authority educational psychologist, researcher and consultant, and served as Professor of Psychology in Education from 2012 to 2017. Hymer has authored or co‑authored ten books and numerous papers on learning and teaching, has trained teachers nationally for organisations such as NACE and SAPERE, and for over fifteen years worked as a freelance consultant delivering keynote talks and workshops to thousands of educators. He also acts as an ambassador for Potential Plus UK and promotes evidence‑led, learner‑centred approaches to education.
