He is an Emeritus Professor at the International University of La Rioja (UNIR), where he served as Vice-Rector for Innovation and Educational Development since September 2015. He is a Professor of Research Methods and Diagnostic in Education and holds a PhD in Educational Sciences and Biological Sciences. He was the Past-President of the European Council for High Ability (2000-2004), of which he is an honorary member. He also served as a member of the National Advisory Board of the Center for Talented Youth (CTY) at Johns Hopkins University (2003-2011). He founded and directed the educational center for gifted students, CTY Spain, and was an International Charter Member of the CTY at Johns Hopkins University (2001-2011).
He was the Director of the UNIR School of Teacher Training in Educational Technology, Digital Competencies, and Talent Development (from September 2015 to September 2021). He is a member of the International Advisory Board (IAB) of the Institute for Research, Innovation, and Educational Technology (iTED) at the International University of La Rioja (UNIR). He is also an International Ambassador and Research Fellow of the Flipped Learning Global Initiative. He served as a professor at the University of Navarra for 36 years (1979-2015).
