Shi Jiannong

Dr. Shi Jiannong is the director of the Center for Excellent Children Research at the Institute of Psychology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He has been studying gifted children in China since 1985 and is the main person responsible for screening and evaluating gifted children in the country. Under his leadership, the center has developed scientific talent tests and implemented enhancement programs. As the chairman of the World Council for Gifted and Talented Children in Asia, he has represented China at international conferences multiple times. Media reports indicate that he estimates about 2.25% of Chinese children (approximately 6.3 million) are high-potential children, and he calls for targeted educational support for them. He balances research, parent counseling, and teacher training, making significant contributions to advancing social awareness of gifted education in China.
